The Indian Coast Guard has allegedly seized two fishing vessels with 79 sailors from Bangladeshi waters. The two vessels are FV Meghna-5 and FV Laila-2. The owner of FV Meghna-5 is Chittagong-based C&A Agro Limited. While the owner of FV Laila is SR Fishing.

The owners of the two vessels confirmed this information on Monday (December 9) afternoon that they were seized from Indian waters near Hiron Point area of ​​Khulna.

Ansarul Haque, Manager (Operations) of C&A Agro Limited, told the media, the sailors of the vessels have contacted us. We have received the latest news that the two vessels are being taken towards Odisha, India.

He said, we have contacted the appropriate authorities in this regard. If they inform us anything in this regard, we will take action accordingly.

Commodore Mohammad Maqsud Alam, Managing Director of the Shipping Department, told the media, “The two ships have been seized near the Indian maritime border. The Coast Guard and related government agencies are in contact with that country. We are keeping an eye on the matter.”

Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki, Media Officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, said, “They are aware of the matter. We are investigating the matter.”
